"Make:" Magazine Controller Kit

Make: magazine unveiled a good idea in their recent Volume 6. As the magazine frequently deals with do-it-yourself technological projects, the editors teamed up with MakingThings to offer readers a controller board for their projects.

The concept is nothing new; we've had things like Breadboards, the kits from Radio Shack, and all sorts of controlling options from places like Hobby Engineering. However, if Make is able to establish an audience loyal to this little device - I'm certain some cool projects will be shared between hobbyists.

The device likely won't disappoint with features. It seems as though it will support a few high level programming languages in addition to ANSI C. The device is able to interface as a USB peripheal, and an Ethernet connection is included. You can even build a minimal interface, thanks to a few LEDs and DIP switches. The device will also include tailored outputs for everything from solenoids to servo motors.

The device is listed at $149, I haven't commited to buying one yet myself. The controller should be out later this month.
