DirecTV Problem Hits Customers in Small/Mid-size Markets
My parents tipped me off to this one actually. Also, as I'm one who enjoys making companies that don't give a rat's ass about customer service look bad, I feel obligated to make this post. It appears that customers who receive local channels in small to mid-size markets in some north/central states (as far west as Idaho, as far East as Pennsylvania) are suffering from an annoyance that may cause slight interruptions or continual displaying of the message "Acquiring Guide Data".
Over at DBSTalk a few users in these small markets have discovered and shared the problem. There have been reports from as far back as May 4th, continuing to yesterday (Sunday) evening. As usual, customers get the big blow-off when calling DirecTV - "Yes we're aware and working on it" and "It will be resolved later today".
A user in the DBSTalk thread mentions that these are customers using the satellite at 72.5 degrees. Fortunately, the good folks behind Lyngsat have provided a list of local stations if you'd like to see if this is the problem you're having.
