WGR614v4 MAC Address Filtering issues
After a recent firmware upgrade, I had temporarily turned off Wireless MAC Address filtering. When attempting to re-enable the feature, my router began exhibiting odd behavior.
As soon as I began entering the MAC addresses of the wireless machines I wanted to allow on my network, the web based interface seemed to not accept new entries into its "database" or listing of wireless MAC addresses. After some troublesome retrying, the addresses seemed to take.
However, upon attempting to connect one of my notebooks to the network, I could not establish a connection. The other notebook was very tempermental about establishing a connection. My PDA would not connect. All three were properly entered and all router settings were correct.
How did I resolve it? I had to do a hard reset on the router and blow out all my settings. Once I did this, entering the filtered wireless MAC addresses proceded without issue, and the laptops and the PDA connected as desired. If your Netgear WGR614 exhibits this same behavior, you may wish to do the same.
