Wireless 802.11g and Knoppix
I downloaded Knoppix today. This was the first time that I tried this distribution. Suprisingly, Knoppix 3.4 worked with a Netgear WG511 without a hitch.
Knoppix's dmesg reports that a prism54 (prism) driver is being used.
This was really the first time I had tried to make a wireless PCMCIA card work with any Linux distribution. I had read at various web sites that some people were experiencing trouble.
However, after plugging in my specific WLAN settings, everything worked great.
I also installed a PCMCIA compact flash reader and a 64MB compact flash card to create a small home directory to save settings - as Knoppix is a distribution running off of one CD-ROM.
