T900 Custom Responses
If you work with paging or text messaging, I just wanted to jot down a poorly documented feature of most motorola-based two-way paging systems.
Most of these pagers come with pre-programmed responses like "Page with number", or "Will arrive 15m" so you don't have to type out the message on the device's mini-keyboard. It is possible to send your recipient some multiple-choice answers. You can do this from a web app, or e-mail. The message will look something like this:
Hey what do you want for lunch?
#Pizza
#Tacos
#Burgers
Some carriers may expect a ## to terminate the message. My carrier is Skytel, and they don't seem to document the custom response feature anywhere. Motorola's documentation for their Talkabout lines, Flex paging - don't seem to document this either. It seems that you have to carefully make sure that certain e-mail headers exist or don't exist - but try a few different clients to send the message, you should be able to figure it out.
